Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on his predecessor Bhupinder Singh Hooda, asking the people of Adampur, which goes to bypolls on November 3, to "teach a lesson" to those who "betrayed" former chief minister Bhajan Lal. Khattar while addressing a rally in Adampur in Hisar on the last day of the campaigning, said "this is not just a by-election, but an opportunity" to end the long gap of 26 years for the Bhajan Lal family for being out of government. Before his address, Khattar gently held the hand of Bhajan Lal's widow and former MLA Jasma Devi, who was also present at the rally, referring to her as his elder sister. The BJP government in Haryana has failed on all fronts and the countdown to its defeat will start from the Adampur assembly by-election with the victory of the Congress, former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Sunday. "Not only in Adampur but people across Haryana are looking at the Congress with hope," Hooda said. The Manohar Lal Khattar-led government has failed on all fronts and today unemployment and inflation are at their peak and crime, corruption and drug menace have increased, he alleged. Senior Congress leaders and members of G-23 Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Anand Sharma and Prithviraj Chavan on Tuesday met Ghulam Nabi Azad at his residence, days after the leader from Jammu and Kashmir resigned from the party after blaming the leadership. Sharma, Hooda and Chavan held discussions at Azad's residence and are learnt to have discussed the future strategy of the G-23. The Congress leaders are learnt to have also discussed the organisational elections, including that of the Congress president, amid reports that Shashi Tharoor, who is a member of the group, is considering contesting the election for the top party post.
