IndiGo's 75 new Airbus aircraft to be outfitted with Recaro's seats

IndiGo's 75 new Airbus aircraft will be outfitted with "comfortable" seats of German company Recaro from January 2023 onwards to upgrade passenger experience, a statement said on Monday. IndiGo's current fleet of over 280 Airbus aircraft are equipped with 'Dragonfly' seats of French company Safran. Recaro's 'BL3710' economy class seat will be installed on 75 Airbus aircraft -- A320neo and A321neo aircraft -- starting from January 2023, stated the joint statement of IndiGo and Recaro on Monday. India's largest carrier IndiGo will be the first airline in the Indian sub-continent to feature the BL3710 seat of Recaro, it mentioned. "The combination of the ergonomic design and weight of less than 10 kg per passenger has made the BL3710 economy class seat a bestseller since it first entered the market in 2019," it noted. IndiGo to operate additional flights on three routes starting July 1

IndiGo on Wednesday said it will operate additional flights on Delhi-Leh, Delhi-Srinagar and Lucknow-Pantnagar routes from July 1 onwards due to increased demand. "We are pleased to strengthen our network by adding frequencies on Delhi-Leh, Delhi-Srinagar and Lucknow-Pantnagar routes, catering to increased demand for travel to Ladakh, Uttarakhand and Kashmir," Sanjay Kumar, Chief Strategy and Revenue Officer, IndiGo, said in a statement. IndiGo has been witnessing high demand on Delhi-Leh route and with this new service, we will have three daily flights from Delhi to Leh, he noted. "We are getting a good response to our Lucknow- Pantnagar flight and with the increase in frequency, this flight would now operate five days a week," he mentioned.

Another churn in IndiGo's management cockpit amid turbulent times

More than three months ago, the country's largest airline IndiGo's successful co-founders Rahul Bhatia and Rakesh Gangwal made headlines. On February 4, the announcement came that Bhatia will take charge as the airline's Managing Director and on February 18, amid the not-so-cosy relations between the two co-founders, it was announced that Gangwal has stepped down from its board. Bhatia took over as the Managing Director on February 4 and since then, there have been quite a few churns in the top deck. IndiGo -- a low-cost carrier which accounts for more than half of the country's domestic traffic -- has announced the appointment of new Chairman, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) since March. In March, IndiGo's market share stood at 54.8 per cent, as per official data.
