Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday said it was reasonable to have ambition in politics but it was the approach that made the difference. His remark comes two days after his former deputy Sachin Pilot raised eyebrows over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "praise" for Gehlot and also nudged the Congress to end the "state of indecision" over the post of chief minister. When asked about the internal challenges in the party, Gehlot told reporters in Baran without naming anyone, "Everyone has a little bit of ambition in politics and it is reasonable that one should have ambition. It is the approach that makes some difference." Refuting any suggestions of internal conflict in the ruling party, Gehlot said he did not want to speak further on the matter and said it was important to win the next elections to the Rajasthan Assembly in the interest of the state and the country. Shortly after Rajasthan former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot raised eyebrows over Prime Minister Narendra Modi "praise" for Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister on Wednesday urged his party leaders to "maintain discipline" and refrain from making political statements. Earlier in the day, Pilot cautioned that Modi's remarks for Gehlot should not be taken lightly and also nudged his party to end the "state of indecision" over the chief minister's post. He also pushed the party for action against the Rajasthan leaders who led a show of strength for Gehlot in September, boycotting a Congress Legislature Party meeting. "AICC general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal has asked not to give statements. We, too, want all leaders to maintain discipline," Gehlot told reporters during his Alwar visit. He said the party's focus should be on retaining the government in Rajasthan. "It is our objective to repeat the government. We have given good governance and brought so many schemes in the
Former Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot on Wednesday raised eyebrows over Prime Minister Narendra Modi praise for CM Ashok Gehlot and also nudged his party to end the state of indecision over the chief minister's post. He also pushed for action by the party against Rajasthan leaders who led a show of strength for Gehlot in September, boycotting a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting. His remarks on the interesting development that he said should not be taken lightly signal the resumption of the tussle within the party's state unit -- briefly on hold while the Congress presidential election was on. Pilot, who led a rebellion in 2020 against Gehlot, targeted the veteran leader by referring to Tuesday's event at Mangarh Dham in Banswara district, where Gehlot shared the dais with Modi. The leaders there paid tribute to the tribal people killed in an uprising against the British in 1913. The PM praised the chief minister and this is an interesting development because th
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will share the dais to pay tributes to tribal freedom fighters at Mangarh Dham in the state's Banswara district on November 1, an official said. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will also be present on the occasion. Mangarh is located at the border of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat, and the visit by the leaders is being seen as an attempt to woo tribals ahead of the Assembly elections in the states. During the freedom struggle, more than 1.5 lakh Bhils and other tribes engaged in a long stand-off with the British rallied at Mangarh Hill on November 17, 1913 under the leadership of Govind Guru. It is believed that around 1,500 people were killed as the British opened fire at the gathering. According to the official, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will reach Mangarh Dham by a special aircraft at 9.30 am. Gehlot is on a Gujarat tour right now, where the Assembly elections are to be held shortly. He is .

Ashok Gehlot alleged that CEC is "intentionally" holding back the announcement of the Gujarat Assembly poll dates, so that PM Modi can address more meetings to woo electorate
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is getting 95 per cent of the total donations made through electoral bonds as donors are not providing funds to other parties out of fear. Addressing a press conference here as part of the Congress's campaign for the upcoming Gujarat Assembly polls, the senior party leader accused the BJP of even "threatening" corporates, who wish to donate to Congress and other political parties. He also targeted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its chief Arvind Kejriwal, saying they spend money for suppressing any negative news against them. "If donation is given to other parties, the Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax Department will come knocking on the doors of the donors. In our democracy, even donations are going to one party only. They have amassed crores of rupees, which they use to build five-star party offices across the country," Gehlot alleged. Exuding confidence about his party Congress winning the ensuing Assembly elections in Gujarat, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday said the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is facing its "highest-ever" anti-incumbency in the state. Gehlot, a senior Congress observer for Gujarat polls, did not see the possibility of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) creating any impact in elections, saying the Arvind Kejriwal-led outfit has just created a hype in the media and it was "non-existent" on the ground in Gujarat. "The BJP has been ruling Gujarat for the last 27 years and I can say that anti-incumbency against the BJP is the highest this time. While people are opposing BJP's ongoing Gaurav Yatras, they are welcoming the Congress in the state during poll campaigning. "We (Congress) will definitely form a government this time. It is necessary to end the BJP's misrule," said the Rajasthan Chief Minister. He was talking to media persons in Vadodara city after addressing a poll rally in
