Amid an increase in Covid cases in some parts of the state, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Monday said that wearing masks will be made mandatory for all health workers, and in areas where a gathering is expected to be above 100 people. Separately, the Chandigarh administration issued an advisory asking residents to strictly adhere to Covid-related "dos and don'ts" at public places which include wearing masks in crowded areas and closed settings as well. Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Saturday escaped unhurt after a truck hit his escort vehicle which then rammed into his car from behind on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, the second incident involving his official car in three weeks. In the wake of a sudden spurt in Covid cases in some countries, Haryana's Health Minister Anil Vij on Thursday said there was no need to panic, but asked people to voluntarily follow precautionary measures like wearing of masks in crowded places and using hand sanitiser. Vij said if any specific guidelines or directions pertaining to Covid come from the Centre, they will be fully implemented in the state. "There is no need to panic. More than one crore eligible beneficiaries have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Haryana till date, Health Minister Anil Vij said on Tuesday.
