Shankar Mishra accused of urinating on woman on AI flight moves court

Shankar Mishra, the man accused of urinating on an elderly woman co-passenger on board an Air India flight from New York to New Delhi, on Wednesday moved a Delhi court seeking bail. Mishra, currently in judicial custody, moved an appeal before a sessions court against an order passed by a magisterial court that had denied him bail on January 11. The sessions court is likely to hear the arguments on his application on January 27. Mishra was arrested by a joint team of Bengaluru and Delhi police after he had gone incommunicado following the sordid incident on an Air India flight on November 26, 2022. Mishra allegedly urinated on the woman, a senior citizen, in an inebriated condition in the business class of the Air India flight from New York to Delhi. The Delhi Police registered an FIR against him on January 4 on a complaint by the woman.

Air India modifies in-flight alcohol service policy amid recent incidents

Amid recent incidents of unruly passenger behaviour, Air India has modified its in-flight alcohol service policy wherein cabin crew have been told to tactfully further serving of alcohol if needed. The Tata group-owned airline has been slapped with penalties in the last few days by DGCA for the unruly behaviour of passengers onboard two international flights for reporting lapses. The exact changes in the revised policy could not be immediately ascertained. According to the revised policy, guests should not be permitted to drink alcohol unless served by the cabin crew and that the cabin crew be attentive to identifying guests that might be consuming their own alcohol. "Service of alcoholic beverages must be carried out in a reasonable and safe manner. This includes tactfully refusing to (further) serve a guest alcohol," as per the policy. Paris-New Delhi flight incidents: DGCA slaps Rs 10 lakh fine on Air India

Aviation regulator DGCA on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on Air India for not reporting two incidents of unruly passenger behaviour onboard a Paris-New Delhi flight in December last year. This is the second time in less than a week that the watchdog has taken enforcement action against the airline in connection with unruly passenger behaviour. In a statement on Tuesday, DGCA said the incidents of passenger misbehaviour occurred on the AI-142 flight from Paris to New Delhi on December 6, 2022. One drunk passenger was caught smoking in the lavatory and not adhering to the crew instructions, and another passenger allegedly relieved himself on a vacant seat and blanket of a fellow female passenger when she went to the lavatory, it said. Urination case: AICCA seeks rollback of derostering of Air India crew

Cabin crew body, All India's Cabin Crew Association (AICCA), on Monday demanded that the airline should roll back derostering of the crew that operated the New York- Delhi flight where a male passenger allegedly urinated on a female co-passenger last November. Earlier this month, Air India issued show cause notices to the Pilot-in-Command and four crew members of the flight and derostered them pending investigation. For various violations related to the urination incident onboard the flight on November 26, 2022, aviation regulator DGCA has imposed a financial penalty of Rs 30 lakh on Air India, Rs 3 lakh fine on the airline's director of inflight services and also suspended the pilot-in-command's licence for three months. Air India Express flight returns to Thiruvananthapuram after technical snag

An Air India Express flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Muscat, Oman returned shortly after take-off due to a technical glitch in its on-board computer system. The flight, IX 549, which took off from the state capital of Kerala at 8.30 AM returned to the international airport here at 9.17 AM after one of the pilots noticed the technical glitch. "All 105 passengers and the cabin crew are safe," an Air India Express spokesperson said.
