Sunrisers Hyderabad registered their first victory of the season as they defeated Punjab Kings by seven wickets, who also lost their first match of the season.
The chase of 144 was not easy for the Hyderabad side as they were slow off the blocks and had lost two wickets for 45 in the ninth over. However, right after the fall of the second wicket, Rahul Tripathi changed his gears and alongwith skipper Aiden Markram, added unbeaten 100 runs off just 52 balls to guide his team home by seven wickets.
Earlier in the evening, Punjab were shocked by the first ball wicket taken by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. From there on, wickets fell at regular intervals but Shikhar Dhawan remained intact and active at the other hand. He was the sole reason that Punjab crossed the 100 run mark as he scored 99 out of the total 143 runs scored by the team. He added 55 runs for the 10th wicket with Mohit Rathee. Mayank Markande took four wickets for 15 runs in his four overs.

The men in purple and gold chased down 204 even after a hat-trick from Rashid Khan which included the wickets of Andre Russell, Sunil Narine and Shardul Thakur.
Venkatesh Iyer's 83 off just 40 balls, added 100 runs with Nitish Rana (45) to keep Kolkata in the chase after the loss of the first two wickets. Iyer and Rana got out in quick succession and then Rashid took the hat-trick as well.
Earlier in the day, after Rashid stood-in for Hardik Pandya as the latter was out with sickness. He won the toss and decided to bat first. Sai Sudharsan hit a fifty, but it was the brilliant 63* off just 24 balls by Vijay Shankar that took the Gujarat Titans past 200.
