In first match of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 round, USA cricket team stand-in skipper Aaron Jones won the toss and decided to bowl first against South Africa in Group 2's first match at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua today.
Sensing the importance of spin at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, both the teams played an extra spinner. While Nosthush Kenjige came in for Shadley van Schalkwyk in the US playing 11, the Proteas played Keshav Maharaj in place of Ottneil Baartman.
In the two matches played here during the group stage, Namibia and Oman were bowled out for 72 and 47 against Australia and England respectively. The chances of low-scoring match is expected if South Africa continue their bowling prowess like the league stage.
