The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday undertook a demolition drive against five unauthorised film studios in Madh, Erangal and Bhati areas in the Western suburbs.
These studios, located in the P-North ward of the city, fall in the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) and the demolition would be completed within two days, the civic body said in a statement.  A day before, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya had tweeted about likely action by the BMC while claiming that dozens of unauthorized studios worth Rs 1,000 crore had come up there in 2021 when the Uddhav Thackeray-led government was in power in Maharashtra.  After receiving complaints,  officials of the P-North ward conducted
inspection and served legal notices to studio owners, it said.  Of 11 film studios operating illegally in the area, four were dismantled by their owners after getting the notice, two studios obtained required permissions and five studios had secured stay orders.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday flagged off a special train to Ayodhya carrying activists of his party Shiv Sena amid fanfare, two days ahead of his own visit to the temple town in Uttar Pradesh.  Sporting a traditional saffron shawl, Shinde, accompanied by his son, Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Srikant Shinde, Kalyan unit in-charge of the Shiv Sena Gopal Landge, local leaders and hundreds of party  activists, showed the green flag to the train at Thane station around 4.40 pm amidst slogans of Jai Shri Ram. Adani Wilmar, which is into edible oil and other food businesses, on Thursday said it achieved nearly 14 per cent growth in volume in the last fiscal, helping the company's revenue to cross Rs 55,000 crore.
The company's total income stood at Rs 54,327.16 crore in the previous year.

In a regulatory filing, Adani Wilmar said, "the company continued its growth story with year-on-year volume growth of close to 14 per cent in FY23, which enabled it to cross Rs 55,000 crore of revenue for the year."

"The food business is scaling up well in-line with our expectations. We have been making good progress in all enablers like sourcing, manufacturing, distribution, brand building and strengthening the teams for the new products.
