The key equity indices pared all the losses and traded with minor gains in mid-morning trade. The Nifty traded near the 17,000 level after hitting the day's low of 16,850.15 in the morning trade. Media, consumer durables and pharma stocks advanced while metal, IT and private bank shares corrected. Trading was volatile due to expiry of weekly index options on the NSE.

Water Resources Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh and Visvesvaraya Jala Nigam (VJNL) respectively have declared a Mumbai based infrastructure company, Patel Engineering (PEL) as L1 for a Rs.998.75 crore contract for the works including survey, investigation, designing, and construction of SHER Dams (4 No. of Dams) with all ancillary works including rising / gravity main and pipe distribution network works in the State of Madhya Pradesh (Sher Irrigation Project) and a Rs.266.38 crore contract for the works including Survey, Design, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Micro Irrigation System under Tumkur Branch Canal Package - III in the State of Karnataka (Tumkur Branch Canal project).

India's overall exports (Merchandise and Services combined) in April-February 2022-23 is estimated to exhibit a positive growth of 16.18 per cent over the same period last year (April-February 2021-22). As India's domestic demand has remained steady amidst the global slump, overall imports in April-February 2022-23 is estimated to exhibit a growth of 19.93 per cent over the same period last year.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Abu Dhabi, to enhance cooperation and jointly enable innovation in financial products and services. Under the MoU, the two central banks will collaborate on various emerging areas of FinTech, especially Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and explore interoperability between the CBDCs of CBUAE and RBI. CBUAE and RBI will jointly conduct proof-of-concept (PoC) and pilot(s) of bilateral CBDC bridge to facilitate cross-border CBDC transactions of remittances and trade. This bilateral engagement of testing cross-border use case of CBDCs is expected to reduce costs, increase efficiency of cross border transactions and further the economic ties between India and UAE. The MoU also provides for technical collaboration and knowledge sharing on matters related to Fintech and financial products and services.
