Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) signed an agreement with M/s Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei GmbH & Co. KG Germany on 03 October 2024, for the construction and delivery of 5th Multi-purpose vessel (MPV) of 7,500 DWT. This contract is in line with the 'Option Agreement' signed between both the parties, for procurement of four additional MPVs from GRSE. The shipyard will build a total of eight vessels (08) at an approx. order value of 108 M USD.

The Union Cabinet approved the proposal of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (DA&FW) for rationalization of all Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) operating under Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer's into two-umbrella Schemes viz. Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY), a cafeteria scheme and Krishonnati Yojana (KY). PM-RKVY will promote sustainable agriculture, while KY will address food security & agricultural self-sufficiency. All components shall leverage technology to ensure efficient and effective implementation of the various components.

The Union Cabinet has approved modification of the existing Productivity Linked Reward (PLR) Scheme for the major ports and dock labour Board employees/workers from 2020-21 to 2025-26. The modified PLR scheme applicable from 2020-21 to 2025-26 will benefit about 20,704 employees of Major Port Authorities and Dock Labour Board Employees/workers. The total financial implication for the entire period will be about Rs.200 crore.

According to an RBI working paper that studies the price dynamics of tomato, onion and potato (TOP) in India, despite having a modest weight in the consumer price index (CPI), significantly impact food and headline inflation due to their high price volatility. The value chain analysis of the three vegetables suggests that farmers are getting around one third of the price that a consumer is paying; the rest is apportioned by the wholesalers and retailers - unlike other sectors like dairy, where farmers are getting around 70 per cent of the final price. Marketing reforms, storage solutions, enhancing processing capacity, and raising yields through higher R&D investments in developing climate resistant varieties and innovative cultivation techniques would be critical for improving the value chains, increasing farmers share in consumer rupee and containing price volatility, the study noted.
