On Day 5, England needed 119 runs with seven wickets in hand and Bairstow and Root batting at 72 and 76 respectively. It took only about one and half hours for the duo to not only ahiove thier indivual milestone hundreds, but also get the team over the line and square the five-match series 2-2.

The match was built up as a test of Bazball theory of England where they believe that they can be brave enough to chase down any target on a wicket which has always shown some help for spinners and even pacers in the fourth innings. Not only did they live by the Bazball theory, but England went on to chase down a historic target of 378, the highest ever by the English team in its Test history.
This win has come up after England conceded a first-innings lead of 132 considering how their batting collapsed in the first innings. To concede 416 in the first innings, then getting all out on 284 and then coming back to get the opposition all out for 245 and chase down 378 shows character and determination that has been infused in this English side by their new coach Brendon McCullum.

There were no prizes for guessing when Jonny Bairstow was announced Player of the Match for this fifth (rescheduled Test) of the five-match series between hosts England and India. Bairstow, who lit up the English Summer alongside skipper Ben Stokes against New Zealand early last month, hit a Lonewolf hundred in the first innings to get England to a respectable total and then in the second innings, backed up that century with yet another century in a match-winning partnership of 269 runs alongside Joe Root.
