As FPIs turn net-sellers; MFs, insurers become big buyers on D-Street

DII stake in BSE 500 companies up nearly 55% in seven years

With foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) turning net-sellers on Dalal Street, mutual funds (MFs) and insurance companies have become big buyers of equity on the Street. This has resulted in a sharp jump in equity stake of domestic institutional investors (DIIs) in listed companies.

Stake of DIIs, such as MFs and insurance companies, in BSE 500 companies reached a record high of 16.1 per cent on average at the end of June, up from 15.3 per cent at the end of March and 14.5 per cent a year ago.

Domestic financial institutional investors were net-buyers for the third consecutive
