Shah said in a Tweet in Hindi that he has spoken to J&K LG Manoj Sinha to take stock of the situation following the cloudburst that struck around 5:30 pm. "NDRF, CRPF, BSF and local administration are engaged in the rescue work. Saving people's lives is our priority. I wish all the devotees well," the minister said. At least eight lives have been lost in the incident, police said.

Amit Shah condoles ex-PM Abe's death, calls him India's 'valued friend'

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday condoled the assassination of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and said he was India's "valued friend". Abe was shot from behind minutes after he started an election campaign speech at Nara in Japan. He was declared dead after he was admitted to a hospital. "Pained to learn about the assassination of the former PM of Japan and India's valued friend, Mr Shinzo Abe.
