An earthquake of magnitude 3.2 hit the Noney district of Manipur in the early hours of Tuesday, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).The quake struck at around 2.46 am with a depth of 25 km."Earthquake of Magnitude:3.2, Occurred on 28-02-2023, 02:46:39 IST, Lat: 24.67 & Long: 93.66, Depth: 25 Km, Location: Noney, Manipur, India," the NCS said in a tweet.Earlier on February 19, an earthquake struck the town of Nandigama in Andhra Pradesh's NTR district. No loss of lives was reported.The tremors occurred at around 7.13 am on Sunday and lasted for 3.4 seconds. Fearful residents rushed out of their homes onto the streets.On the same day, an earthquake measuring 3.0 on the Richter scale also struck Madhya Pradesh.According to the National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake struck Dhar, about 151 km southwest of Indore around 1 pm.The earthquake's epicentre was at a depth of 10 km beneath the earth's surface, the agency said.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday presented in the assembly the budget for 2023-24 with an expenditure proposal of Rs 35,022 crore out of the consolidated fund of the state. The budget proposals focus on education, health, sports and agriculture, said Singh who also holds the finance portfolio. For the year 2023-24, I am proposing a total expenditure of Rs 35,022 crore out of the Consolidated Fund of the State. The total Revenue Expenditure is estimated at Rs 20,292 crore while the Capital outlay is estimated at Rs 10,013 crore, the CM said. In the Budget Estimate 2022-23, the total expenditure estimated was Rs 34,930 crore. The total receipts are estimated at Rs 34,131 crore - revenue receipts at Rs 27,547 crore and capital receipts at Rs 6,584 crore. Total estimates of the state's own tax and non-tax receipts are Rs 3,200 crore and Rs 400 crore respectively. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday asserted that the BJP government in the state freed Manipur from bandhs and terrorism and brought it on the path of development. Addressing a public rally at Moirang in Bishnupur district after virtually inaugurating 12 projects worth Rs 300 crore and laying the foundation stone of nine projects worth Rs 1,007 crore, Shah said the BJP government defeated insurgency and lifted Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 or AFSPA from six districts of the state. "There was a situation of terror during the Congress rule in Manipur. Now, it is among the best governed small states," he said. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday visited the Indian National Army (INA) headquarters at Moirang in Manipur's Bishnupur district and hoisted the national flag. In Moirang, INA had hoisted the tricolour for the first time on Indian soil. Shah also paid floral tributes to a photograph of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the memorial. He was accompanied by Chief Minister N Biren Singh. Shah is scheduled to address the public, and inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 1,300 crore. Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived here on Thursday on a two-day visit to Manipur during which he will inaugurate and lay foundation stone of several projects in the northeastern state. Moirang village is where INA soldiers during the fag end of World War II hoisted the tri colour for the first time on Indian soil. The Congress on Thursday demanded a CBI inquiry into what it alleged was a Rs 1,700 crore Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana "scam" in Manipur and demanded strong action against ministers involved in graft. Voting began on Monday in the by-election to six assembly constituencies in five states and the Mainpuri parliamentary seat in Uttar Pradesh. The Election Commission on Thursday rapped SSPs of Etawah and Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh and sought explanations for them for failing to follow its transfer and posting policy ahead of the Mainpuri Lok Sabha bypoll. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has launched a web portal to enable people to redress their grievances, and provide a platform to raise corruption-related issues, officials said. Three phone numbers, including two meant for the anti-corruption cell, has been made available on the portal 'CM da Haisi' (Let's inform the CM), they said. "...
